Steps to Become a Professional Engineer
Due to the large number of errors in the definition of technical expertise, I decided to make this brief article to clarify some of the following:
1. Computer Literacy
The first step in the world of computers is to know it, that is, one must know what it is, how it is used, how it is managed. Anyone who can do this is called Computer Literate. These are the most common ones in the community, for example, music senders and other computer users.
2. Computer Geekiness
After a person can use a computer, know its shortcuts and how to troubleshoot and solve other problems, then he is at this stage. These are called Computer Guru or Computer Geek. Such as computer repair and troubleshooting.
3. Computer Specialism
The third step is to specialize in a modern part of the machine. Here one will specialize in example in programming, or software development, or häcking, or graphics, embedded systems and so on. Anyone who specializes in one area of computer science is at this level. Such people are called IT Guy or Computer Specialist.
4. Computer Pioneering
The last step is to become a Computer Pioneer, that is, one who has ventured into the computer world to create something new. Examples include Tim-Berner Lee, Steve Jobs, Alan Turing, Charles Babbage and others.
From this information we can understand that in the literal examples it is as follows:
—Computer Literate is a primary to secondary school
—Computer Guru has a BSc
—Computer Specialist is an MSc
—Computer Pioneer was a PhD up to Professor Emeritus
This is an example of how we can actually see something. So it is good to understand these steps, so that we also know the level we are in and we have to persevere.
